Fish canning has been a traditional and well-known industry in Latvia since the late 19th century. Fish canning in Latvia began in 1884 with the L.W. Goegginger fish canning factory in Riga. It was at L.W. Goegginger’s request that a fish canning factory was built and opened in Engure in 1907, which is today known as SIA “Unda” fish canning factory. Since 1931, its brand “Diplomats” has been a symbol of quality and taste.

From the very beginning, the focus of the Engure fish canning factory has been on quality, not quantity. Today, SIA “Unda” exports its products to more than 20 different countries. However, the company does not strive to sell more and more; instead, we focus on producing high-quality, handmade products, adhering to traditions and accumulated knowledge. Our new concept store at Tērbatas Street 14, Riga, is more than just a retail space. The opening of the Tērbatas Street store is a significant milestone in the history of Diplomats and SIA “Unda”. It is the second Diplomats store, as the first was opened in Engure in the summer of 2023. Customers have greatly loved this store and sometimes even travel from Riga specifically to buy Diplomats products. The Riga Diplomats store marks a new point of our growth and development, as well as a commitment to offering our clients only the best that our industry can provide.
